The source for Fischer's miniature copy was listed in an inventory of 1851 as a portrait by Thomas Phillips engraved by William Skelton. However it appears to be much closer to Sir Thomas Lawrence's full-length portrait of the Prince Regent, painted in 1814, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1815, and later in the collection of the Marquess of Londonderry. This miniature must derive from one of the many variants of Lawrence's portrait, showing the Prince Regent with the addition of the broad ribbon of Hanover. He also wears field marshal's uniform with the stars of the Orders of the Garter (hidden), the Bath, St Esprit, the Black Eagle and St Andrew, and of the Royal Guelphic Order, the neck badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece and a bar decorated with the ribbons and badges of a selection of his foreign orders.
