Shakespeare in The Royal Collection - A collection of resources for schools

Midsummer Nights dream image

What has Shakespeare done for the Royal Family, and what has the Royal Family done for Shakespeare?

This was the central research question of ‘Shakespeare in the Royal Collection’, a three-year project, funded by The Arts & Humaties Research Council which focused on the Shakespeare-related holdings in The Royal Collection and Royal Archives and the stories they have to tell, primarily during the period 1714-1945. The project was carried out by Kings College, London and Birkbeck University, London with support from The Royal Collection Trust.

This page includes a selection of teaching resources targeted specifically at particular Shakespeare plays (for Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-Level) and at EPQ study.  These include how to read Shakespearean sources as well as looking into performances that have taken place at Windsor Castle. We hope these will be useful for teachers and students at all levels.

The universities If you choose to use these resources, please take a moment let us know how it went. We can pass this on to the relevant univrsities.
